How did we enable Credit Union Electronic Transaction Services (CUETS) to achieve a record smashing 342% increase in balance transfers in one month? By keeping it a secret. CUETS needed to promote their interest rates but their legal department wouldn't allow us to reveal the actual rate. So what did we do? Engage and appeal to everyone's curiosity. Campaign materials were everywhere: On in-branch posters, shelf talkers, tent cards, web banners, and "ask me: quietly" buttons for tellers to wear. And ask they did.
